ALAKA Maggie Inman, 51 Anchorage resident Maggie Inman, 51, died of breast cancer Sept. 22, 2003, surrounded by family at Providence Alaska Medical Center. A service of remembrance will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Holy Family Cathedral. A celebration of life will be afterward at the Moose Lodge, 4211 Arctic Blvd. Mrs. Inman was born Feb. 13, 1952, in Anchorage and spent her childhood in Wasilla and Willow. In 1970, she graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Help High School in Brooklyn, N.Y. In 1971, she lived in Sitka and attended Sheldon Jackson College. She was a resident of Sitka until 1996. Mrs. Inman worked as a bank manager with the federal branch, First National Bank Alaska. She was a member of the Elks and Moose lodges, VFW Post/Ladies Auxiliary Post 9365 in Wasilla, and was a past president of the Sitka Emblem Club. Her primary focus was always family and friends. She also enjoyed cross-country skiing, roller blading and long walks. Her family wrote: "During her courageous six-year battle with breast cancer which included participating in pioneering stem cell transplant research at the National Institute of Health Cancer Research Center in Bethesda, Md., Maggie never wavered in her positive attitude and determination to overcome this disease ... Maggie never lost her Maggie-ness. "Maggie was beloved as a daughter, sister, mother, wife, life companion, best friend, aunt, great-aunt, and her favorite role of grandma. "She possessed a wonderful, unmatched sense of humor (and) an unusual ability to make people feel at ease. She touched everyone most everywhere she ventured. She had an incredible kindness ... and always put others first. She will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing her." Mrs. Inman is survived by her husband, life-companion and "bunk-buddy," Oz Kendall; son and life-partner, Ron Inman and Erin Moore; daughter and son-in-law, Kari and Shaun Berry; mother, Joan Katkus; sisters, Sue Williams and Jane Katkus; brothers, sisters-in-law and families, Tom and Jo Katkus, John and Taffy Katkus; grandchildren, Avery and Morregon; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Her father, Henry Katkus, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Susan G.
